The “National Guideline for Medical Practice in the Diagnosis, Treatment, and Monitoring of Cancers in Children and Adolescents in Romania” was developed as part of the project “Increasing performance in the diagnosis and treatment of cancers in children by improving technical equipment, acquiring modern equipment, training medical staff, and developing recommendations” within the “Challenges in Public Health in Europe” Program financed by the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2014-2021, a program operated by the Ministry of Health.
The project was implemented between 2019 and 2020, with the Project Promoter being the Oncology Institute “Prof. Dr. Ion Chiricuță” in Cluj-Napoca, in partnership with the Emergency Clinical Children’s Hospital “Louis Țurcanu” in Timișoara, the Regional Institute of Oncology in Iași, and the Oncology Institute “Prof. Dr. Alexandru Trestioreanu” in Bucharest. The project was developed under the guidance of the Norwegian Institute of Public Health and the Norwegian Directorate of Health, acting as the donor and methodological support partner.
Clinical recommendations for the management of various cancer localizations in children and adolescents are continuously supplemented and updated in accordance with the Clinical Guidelines and Recommendations of the European Society for Paediatric Oncology (SIOPE – European Standard Clinical Practice).
