We often realize that a child’s life depends on how quickly they can receive the blood product that is recommended only when it is someone close to us.
Because some specialized medical centers can sometimes face a lack of the necessary blood products, it is important to ask the pediatric oncologist ahead of time if there is a need for you to try to identify donors compatible with your child’s blood type.
Ask your pediatric oncologist for information about blood types that are compatible for donation with your child’s blood type.
Also ask the pediatric oncologist or the specialist at the Transfusion Center if there is a possibility that, if you cannot identify compatible donors, you can use the donors of another group at your disposal to obtain the products in exchange from the transfusion center blood that your child needs.
